Berglauf 2018

Berglauf 2018

Berglauf is an uphill battle... but mountains + running = happy. And especially pinning a number on for the first time after 3 months injured.

First up was the Gauschla Berglauf, then the huge Pizzo Claro with 2500m of vertical gain over 9km...

Gauschla went well, but with Pizzo Claro I was disappointed. Some days, working hard just doesn’t feel like it’s enough.

But trying and failing is part of the process of improvement, right? Working hard is at the heart of sport and I love it.

Luckily Pizzo Claro is also beautiful, so I forgot about being angry with myself and just focussed on running, scrambling, and crawling up the mountain.

There were forests, autumn leaves, blue skies, chestnuts, alpine meadows, sheep, llamas, woodsmoke, frosty grass, icy rocks, cold clean air filling my lungs, and hundreds of cheerful people yelling “brava”!

There’s a lot of room for improvement but that’s cool, because the journey is AWESOME.
